As the annual bellwether for global media and entertainment technology, IBC attracts not only 1,300 exhibitors and 45,000 attendees; more importantly, it signals the industry's technology trajectory.

A decade ago, evaluating a broadcast camera was straightforward: resolution, sensor size, and interface count. A quick scan of the spec sheet was enough.

 

But in the context of IBC 2026, the evaluation framework has shifted. AI content production, immersive applications, and cloud-native production—these three areas were listed by the IBC Conference as top annual agenda items. The industry's underlying logic is migrating, and the direction is unmistakable:

 

AI moves from concept to production deployment: no longer PowerPoint demos, but embedded in production and broadcast workflows, reducing labor, operational overhead, and time.

 

IP accelerates the replacement of traditional SDI architectures: networked production shifts from "optional" to "default," with all-IP workflows as the new baseline.

 

HDR image quality becomes the new standard for professional production: display endpoints are fully HDR; acquisition endpoints must keep pace, or the entire quality pipeline collapses at the acquisition stage.

AI Scene Understanding: From "Able to Capture" to "Able to Capture Well"

On opening day, the VX90Pro demo area at VHD's booth drew a large crowd. When visitors entered the capture zone, the AI tracking frame locked on instantly and followed smoothly—maintaining the target through side turns, head-down movement, and rapid motion. At the K70 control keyboard, directors used the 4D joystick and AI visual shortcut keys for multi-camera coordination; trajectory recording and one-touch replay drew strong interest from production companies.

 

Behind these interactions is an emerging industry judgment: the value center of broadcast cameras is shifting from "imaging capability" to "scene understanding capability." Cameras are no longer merely capture tools; they are intelligent nodes that understand the frame and assist decision-making.

 

Imaging Quality Rises: HDR Moves from Flagship Standard to Industry Baseline

Another highlight at the show was the pace of HDR adoption. The VX720LG, the first PTZ camera to obtain broadcast HDR10 technical certification, delivered no highlight clipping and clear shadow detail under complex mixed lighting, drawing many European visitors to stop and experience it.

 

The driving force is straightforward: viewer screens are fully HDR—HDR TVs, wide-gamut monitors, 4K smartphone displays—making audiences increasingly discerning. If front-end acquisition cannot keep pace, the entire quality pipeline collapses at the acquisition stage. The entry threshold for new-gen cameras has risen from "4K output" to "professional-grade HDR output."

 

IP-Native Integration: Cameras Become Intelligent Nodes in the Network

Another clear signal from IBC 2026: IP has moved beyond the "trend discussion" phase and is now a default infrastructure option. Across multiple halls, discussions centered on ST 2110 interoperability, NDI ecosystem collaboration, and cloud-native production workflows.

 

All VHD products exhibited at the show natively support NDI and Dante; a single Ethernet cable handles networked audio/video transmission, control, and power delivery. This is not simply adding a network port; it redefines the camera from a "signal source device" into an intelligent node in an IP production network—discoverable, controllable, and orchestration-ready.

 

The theme of IBC 2026 is "Turning innovation into action." What VHD demonstrated at this show is a concrete cross-section of that action: when a camera can understand the people it captures, adapt to the light it faces, and integrate seamlessly into the network it inhabits—repetitive, time-consuming, experience-dependent production steps can be redefined.
